Do we believe He means what He says?
"God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways,
in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world." Heb. 1:1,2"
"While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and behold, a voice out of the cloud, saying, 'this is My beloved Son, with Whom I am well-pleased;
listen to Him!' " Matt. 17:5
"For this reason
we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? After it was first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard, God bearing witness with them, both by signs and wonders and by various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit according to His own will." Heb. 2:1-4
"For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eye witnesses of His majesty. For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the Majestic Glory, 'This is My beloved Son with Whom I am well-pleased' - and we ourselves heard this utterance made from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain. And so
we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. But know this first of all, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God." 2 Pet. 1:16-21
"But the Lord said to Moses, 'Because
you have not believed me, to treat Me as Holy in the sight of the sons of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them." Num. 20:12
"Therefore putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your soul. But
prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man shall be blessed in what he does." Jam. 1:16-21
If we truly believe, we will listen to Him. If we truly listen and pay attention, we will obey Him. If we truly believe - if we have a sober awareness of WHO He is - we will treat Him as holy before our own eyes, in our own hearts, and in turn, before the eyes of those among whom we walk and talk and post.
